Orthodontic Evaluations
BUILDING A SOLID FOUNDATION
If you have children, they should have an orthodontic evaluation around age 7. Orthodontic evaluations early in life allow for early intervention to common emerging problems such as overcrowding and bite misalignment. These issues are easier to address in childhood when dental professionals can guide your child’s jaw growth to ensure proper development. Being proactive can prevent more extensive orthodontic treatment from being necessary later in life. For example, we can much more easily create space when crowding is a problem and address any potential misalignment issues to give your child the best possible start to life with their oral health.
Interceptive Orthodontics
A PROACTIVE APPROACH
Interceptive orthodontics is an early preventive orthodontic treatment for children that starts while their mouths are still growing. This is an ideal time to treat emerging orthodontic issues before they become big problems in their teens (or adult years). Interceptive orthodontic treatments are all about preventing malocclusion (bite misalignment), whereas corrective orthodontic treatments aim to fix malocclusion that already exists with fully emerged permanent teeth.
Bold Dental uses interceptive orthodontic treatments, including space maintainers and palatal expanders. Space maintainers are useful if a young child prematurely loses their baby teeth. Even though all children eventually lose their baby teeth, early loss can have serious consequences when it comes to orthodontics. For one, adjacent teeth can shift into the vacant space, causing the permanent teeth to erupt in the wrong places. This can affect your child’s bite later in life. Space maintainers are handy little dental devices that hold the space until it’s time for the permanent teeth to emerge.
Palatal expanders are another common interceptive orthodontic treatment we use at Bold Dental. It’s an orthodontic appliance used for patients who have a narrow upper jaw. The palatal expander gently widens the upper jaw, helping prevent or correct crossbites, crowding, and more. Sometimes we also use palatal expanders in conjunction with other orthodontic treatments, such as braces.
Traditional Braces
A CLASSIC SOLUTION FOR CROOKED TEETH
Traditional braces are a classic, tried-and-true solution for correcting crooked teeth and misalignment. Most patients in braces are kids and teens, but braces are a great corrective option for adults too. It can take anywhere from one to three years on average to complete treatment to straighten your teeth. Total treatment time and the number of adjustments you’ll need during the process will depend on the initial positions of your teeth.
Clear Aligners
REVOLUTIONARY ORTHODONTIC TREATMENT
Removable clear aligners are a popular alternative to traditional braces because they offer a more discreet way to straighten the teeth. A series of custom-made aligners gently shift the teeth into the right positions over time. Unlike traditional braces, you can remove clear aligners to eat and clean so there’s no need to give up your favorite foods. Many patients choose clear aligners because there is minimal impact on their lifestyle. Clear aligners are virtually invisible, making them ideal if you’re feeling self-conscious about metal braces.
Retainers

Retainers play an important role in orthodontics. They help maintain the great results you achieved from your braces or clear aligners. Retainers are custom made, so they fit comfortably in your mouth, preventing your teeth from shifting back to their original positions. Dr. Williams will give you detailed instructions about how long to wear your retainers, along with guidance on cleaning and caring for them to maintain hygiene and keep them in good condition. Retainers are a valuable tool in maintaining your smile and ensuring your long-term dental health.
